Aloha! The snow has returned. I am not exactly thrilled but am learning to love it. The world looks completely different covered in snow. Pure, clean and serene. Even while tracting. It adds a little enchantment to our days here.
Transfers brought change and I am still trying to catch up and know everyone. We have a pretty good teaching pool and are preparing a couple of people for baptism the beginning of next year. Way exciting. Cortney,(right spelling), was baptized this weekend. Getting the details worked out took hours of phone calls. It was a lot of work. We weren't able to attend her baptism because she was baptized in the Stake Center by the temple. We were still ecstatic for her. She was so excited. She wasn't golden, she is a diamond. The scripture from Mosiah 18 about the people clapping for joy, Cortney could have leaped buildings. The cherry on the cake is that her boyfriend who is serving his mission in Paraguay doesn't know yet. He'll find out on Christmas. =)
Tracting produced miracles. We were able to contact Tracy. It was amazing. She met the Elders on Monday in Spokane during fear busting and is so ready for the gospel. We tried a couple of times through the week but without success. Thursday with appointments falling through we hit the streets of Cheney. It was rough but kept going. Most people were nicer because it Christmas time. We headed over towards Tracy's and Sister Hirata felt we should knock on a door. This young lady from China opened the door and let us in. She believes there is a God. She told us of how they are taught God doesn't exist but she just knows. Her friend was not interested in what we had to share but Taoren was captivated. She wasn't ready to meet with us. It made the several hours of being exposed to the elements worth it.
My exciting news is I finished the Book of Mormon yesterday. It took me 2 months. Woohoo. The impressions I got this time while reading were how merciful the Lord is and that His arms are always extended towards us and inviting us to repent to change. I felt God's love and the love He has for His children. Pres. Higbee spoke on Sunday of the gift of the Book of Mormon and the gifts of the Wiseman of 1820's who brought us this great gift to know truth. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that by believing and knowing comes more exceptions and responsibility and it comes with so many wonderful blessings. It is another gift from God to His children to let them know that He is. I know that Jesus is the Christ. This is a wonderful season to remember Him and reflect on our many blessings from Him and our Heavenly Father. I loved giving a young man Josh a Book of Mormon this week and saying We have a Gift for you Merry Christmas. Also, giving Christina a copy and knowing as she put it that her Grandpa was doing a jig in Heaven and because we had filled a longing that she has had since being a little girl. The gospel brings happiness. Love and Miss you all. Share the greatest gift of truth with those you love (in other words share your witness.) Merry Christmas.
Love your Sister Peck
