Happy New Year- Jan 3

Aloha Everyone!
Hope 2011 is starting off to a great start.

This last week was another interesting weather week of 8 inches of snow and negative numbers at night. We bundle up a lot. A lot of our appointments fell through this last week and New Year’s Day I had the flu. =) Life of a missionary is not the greatest when you're under the weather but Today I feel better and am excited for the new week- EWU is back in session and we'll be able to find more people to teach!
Mike L. needs your prayers. He has set a new baptismal date. I broke it down - He has to quite smoking and drinking coffee before he gets baptized. Also that if he wants Sister Hirata to be there it has to be before the 19th of January because she goes back to Temple Square. He chose January 15. On Sunday you could see a change in his countenance. There is more determination to succeed! I am excited for him and know he can make it and continue forward. His lesson New Years Eve was adorable as his two little ones helped us jam out Follow the Prophet. We sang it as a intro to the lesson because while reviewing the lesson required before baptism when asked have you had the lesson Follow the Prophet - He respond the Song- Yeah. So the song was part of the lesson of course. We are so blessed to know their family. Nicole and Mike have the biggest hearts. When you serve and teach, you can’t help but find a place for them in your heart.
Tyler is getting ready to be baptized this Friday! We are so excited. He's ready but has this catch phrase if this is true than means all the rest is true too? Earlier in the week our appointment ran late and we were late for his but he waited the 30 or so minutes for us in the cold. He just desires to know. He read from the October Ensign about prophets and took notes and even wrote down his question. It was really deep question about the Heavenly messengers. I told him after he receives the Holy Ghost that it will increase his understanding. That was sufficient for him. But the questions he asks, shows that he is internalizing the message and that the Spirit is working with him. It makes me so excited for him. He was nervous about telling his mom that he's getting baptized this weekend. Last night we received a text if facebook messaging her was an okay means of telling her of his decision. It gave us a good laugh but we are waiting the results and praying that his mom is okay with his decision.

Michelle was baptized Friday night! We got to be there. She looked so beautiful in her white jump suit. There was just this sweet Spirit there. She had a smile on the whole evening. What a great way to end the year!

For New Years Eve we got to watch a missionary movie! Movie Night and all. It was fun to be spiritually uplifted. I can now understand why President approved missionary movies to be viewed instead of Disney ones. We watched the Errand of Angels. It was all about Sister Missionaries. We had great laughs as we could relate to the nuances throughout the film. Hope that you can all see it too.
Wednesday, after the snow storm the night before, we embarked to District Meeting. I had the training and know that Elder La Bonte was relieved when we arrived. It was on the importance of commitments and helping people to keep commitments. Invitations to change is repentance. It is so beautiful. We have the opportunity to help people succeed. I love that. I focused on the eternal perceptive and why we ask and how we follow up. Follow up is one of the hardest things to do. And to evaluate. But we made goals and worked on ways we can help those we teach come closer to their Savior. I've found the post-its are the most beneficial resource besides my scriptures.

Sunday night all four Sisters lead a discussion for the Single Adults Fireside. It was amazing to share about how we can do missionary work and where we can start. We filled up the blackboard with ways to share the treasure we have but it came down to example and opening our mouths.

Love you all bunches be safe and make goals that will last the whole year through! =) Hope they include missionary goals too.
Love always and forever
Your Sister Peck
